Newsletters
Designing newsletters is one of my favorite pastimes. I had designed newsletters for the Coca-Cola Bottlers of the Bluegrass, Bank of Lexington, the Beverage Industry Recycling Program, IBM Credit Union, MER & Associates Advertising, Airdrie Stud, Breeders' Cup Ltd., Spendthrift Farm Inside Track, etc., when I got the plum assignment of designing a Thoroughbred industry standard, the Dogwood Stable Newsletter, for Cot Campbell. Cot Campbell owned his own advertising agency in Atlanta, Georgia before inventing the concept of the Thoroughbred limited partnership. Learning at the feet of this master of self-promotion was a dream assignment, and from 1989 through 2013 I produced three issues per year chronicling the rise of this Thoroughbred industry favorite, contributing many headlines and illustration ideas through the years while working with three different newsletter editors.
Cot was nice enough to acknowledge my contributions to this labor of love in 2012:
"I am keenly aware of the many fine, creative contributions you make to the newsletter. It is what it is, with much credit going to you."
Other newsletter projects through the years: Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation, the Thoroughbred Club of America, Kentucky Thoroughbred Association-Kentucky Thoroughbred Owners & Breeders Association, Equibase Company, Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital, American Association of Equine Practioners EVE News, American Association of Equine Practitioners Navigator, Bluegrass Coca-Cola Bottlers Association, IBM (Lexington) Employees Federal Credit Union, Breeders' Cup, Ltd., Foodtown Supermarkets, Kentucky Beverage Industry Recycling Program, etc., as well as serving as Editor and producing pro bono newsletters for Cassidy Parent Teacher Association and Henry Clay High School PTSA as a parent volunteer.
